Asgeirsson Outlines CPA2Biz Roadmap for AICPA Members

Company’s continued investment in cloud computing and mobile technology paying dividends

In an update to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants governing Council this morning, Erik Asgeirsson, the president and CEO of CPA2Biz, outlined the newest offerings in the company’s product lineup, as well as additional tools set to launch in the months ahead that will directly benefit members of the profession.  Asgeirsson also emphasized the degree to which cloud and mobile technologies are taking root within the accounting community, driving profound changes in areas such as client accounting services.

“Technology is redefining how firms support small business,” Asgeirsson said. “Firms that embrace change will be rewarded with incredible opportunity. With every new service we roll out, we are positioning CPA2Biz to be the go-to resource to enable this transformation.”

In particular, Asgeirsson focused on the following activities which CPA2Biz has either launched or is in the process of launching:

  • To support the mobile CPA, CPA2Biz is developing a smartphone-friendly AICPA Online Store that will be available in coming months—enabling members to order AICPA publications, conferences, webinars and continuing professional education (CPE) from their smartphone devices.
  • By the end of 2011, CPA2Biz will have rolled out a new eReader, as well as eBooks for the AICPA’s most popular titles. The new digital functionality delivers a richer user experience for the professional in the field, provides quicker access to information, and can eliminate the need to lug around traditional bound books to client locations.
  • CPA2Biz’s Learning Management System, an innovative platform that accelerates online learning and continuing education, now supports over 30,000 users, and continues to receive significant interest from firms and companies.
  • New technology solutions will be highlighted on the just-launched CPA.com site, with the first example—a CPA-branded email service—announced yesterday. CPA.com will become a hub for the company’s portfolio of web-based solutions, and joins other CPA2Biz online destinations such as the AICPA storefront and ifrs.com, which is devoted to information surrounding International Financial Reporting Standards.

On a final note, Asgeirsson reported Fiscal Year 2011 financial results that saw online sales grow 9 percent to $23.3 million. The company remains the leading ecommerce site for the accounting profession.
